By the Seaside

Built. Haptic. Colour.

Form often follows function. In this project I examine design elements of promenades and their surfaces from a visual point of view. How similar, or conversely, how varied is the design of promenades, and how varied can it even be, given that they often fulfil a dual purpose as places of leisure and as sea defences? How can these spaces be imaginatively and appealingly designed for users with different needs? How do we as users of these places interpret and represent them?

Through abstraction, gravitating towards minimalism, this project is an attempt to visually navigate and examine the area between, and the interplay of, form and content.
